Future Designs, Inc. LPC2158 LCD Demo (LCDDEMO-LPC2158)

The LCDDEMO-LPC2158 hardware development tool utilizes a low-cost LPC2158 microcontroller to implement a single-chip solution for operating and controlling an LCD user interface. Powered by a 5V supply from your PC's USB port, the board is controlled by an easy two-button user interface from which you can display 8-character alphanumeric LCD messages. The LPC2158's 512KB of reprogrammable flash allows you to conveniently edit and download code directly through the USB virtual COM port on your PC. With the microcontroller's 40KB of RAM, the LCDDEMO-LPC2158 can also function as a Single Board Computer. The 20-pin expansion header allows you to connect external devices to the microcontroller through its GPIO or SPI and I2C interfaces.

The full kit includes the demo board and a QuickStart Guide which covers device installation, programming custom software, and LCD Demo Software operation.

The demo board includes the following key components:

• NXP LPC2158 512KB flash microcontroller
• 8-character alphanumeric LCD

The NXP LPC2158 is a multi-chip module (MCM) containing the following two devices:

When used as a Single Board Computer, the I/O expansion header provides access to:

• UART, I2C, and SPI
• 3 A/D inputs
• External interrupt
