GTL translator voltage clamps
Introduction
These passive voltage level translators provide bi-directional voltage translation without the need for directional control for any voltage between 1.0V to 5.0V to any other voltage between 1.0V and 5.0V at frequencies up to about 3 MHz.
They are offered in SO, TSSOP, and HVQFN packages with the GTL2002 now available in the super small VSSOP-8 (DC) and XQFN-8 (GM) packages for mobile applications.

- The GTL2002/03/10/00 allow voltage translation between any voltage from 1.0V to 5.0V to any voltage between 1.0V and 5.0V in configurations of 2, 8, 10, and 22-bit widths.
- These devices are open drain on both sides of the device, with no drive through the translator voltage clamp (no VCC).
- The reference voltage clamps the output voltage with a very low propagation delay (<1ns), and the device provides bi-directional level translation without the need for a direction control pin.
- The BiCMOS process provides excellent ESD performance to interface to the outside world.
- Typical application for the GTL2002, as shown, is the translation of an ASIC I2C port to an I2C bus at 3.3V or 5.0V.
