AVC family overview

Introduction
NXP delivers the world's fastest CMOS logic family, the Advanced Very-low-voltage CMOS (AVC) family. The AVC family achieves speeds of less than 1.5ns at 3.3V and less than 2ns at 2.5V.
The AVC family features our Dynamic Control Output circuit (DCO, patent pending). The DCO circuit maintains the optimum current for achieving the highest signaling speeds while automatically reducing the output impedance during signal transitions. This reduces the undershoot and overshoot effects that become critical in very-high-speed system environments, eliminating the need for series damping resistors.
Moreover, with 3.3V, 2.5V, and 1.8V interfacing capabilities, AVC readily supports mixed-voltage environments. Our AVC family also offers a power-off feature that disables the outputs of the device when no power is applied, thus allowing live insertion.
New high-performance applications will benefit from the AVC family's performance. While at the same time, existing applications will find an easy upgrade path to the AVC family from lower-speed logic families.

  • DCO (Dynamic Controlled Output) circuit dynamically adjusts output impedance, resulting in noise reduction without speed degradation
  • CMOS low power consumption
  • Less static and dynamic power consumption than current low-voltage devices
  • Wide supply voltage range VCC = 1.2V to 3.6V
  • Input/Output tolerant up to 3.6V
  • Complies with JEDEC standard no. 8-1A/5/7
  • Dynamic drive capability is equivalent to standard outputs with IOH / IOL = ±24mA at 3.3V, 2.5V, and 1.8V
  • Low inductance multiple VCC and GND pins to minimize noise and ground bounce
  • Bus hold on data inputs eliminates the need for external pull-up/pull-down resistors
